Eco-Friendly Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

If you LOVE your mother as much as I do, then I can imagine how much you’re probably fretting over finding her the perfect Mother’s Day gift. Gift buying can be nerve wracking. There’s immense pressure to buy a gift that’s unique and meaningful. I’ll admit that in the past, my gift giving creativity has been sub par. Frankly, I believe it’s pretty pathetic… For the past 10 years, my poor mom has been receiving TJ Maxx & Home Goods gift cards! She says she “loves” them because she can personally choose her gift, but I’m sure deep down she wishes I came up with something better. What mother really wants to get the SAME gift over & over again? It’s not Ground Hogs Day – it’s Mother’s Day! So I’ve decided this year is going to be different. I’m going to give my mom a gift that’s well thought out and attempts to show the magnitude of my love (which is immeasurable).

Does any of this resonate with you? Do you feel that you’ve got the same attitude, but don’t know where to begin looking?

Well, here’s a start. I’ve found some terrific eco-friendly gift ideas that’ll fit the personalities of all. Ask yourself a few of these questions:

Does your mom work super hard and need a little pampering in her life?

If so, give her the gift of relaxation with a plush organic cotton velour terry robe by Under the Canopy and an Organic Lavender Spa Basket from EcoExpress. Encourage your mom to relax and unwind in her organic robe as she indulges in the wonderful organic spa products. The gift basket includes a jar of lavender body polish, lotion, aromatherapy soap, an aromatherapy beeswax candle, loofah, organic cotton wash cloth, and spa brush.

Is your mom an avid reader? Is she part of a book club?

If so, then you should consider getting her a subscription to BookSwim! It’s virtually the Netflix for books. Go online anytime and rent the latest bestsellers, new releases, and classics with free shipping both ways! Read the books as long as you want and never worry about late fees. No more library cards. No more books cluttering your shelves. Instead, your mom can customize her reads and pick and choose the order of titles in her book queue.

Enter the coupon codeMOTHERSDAY2009” at checkout when you purchase a $40 gift card and you’ll receive an extra $10 free. Plus, everyone will receive a $20 gift certificate to 1-800-Flowers.com. (Please note that this is an example of a gift card that keeps on giving).

Does your mom like to accessorize with beautiful jewelry?

If so, buy her a handcrafted piece of eco-friendly jewelry such as Jazzy’s, Fair Trade Vermeil and FWP Necklace. Jazzy’s Jewelry uses Fair Trade and recycled resources and donates a portion of its proceeds to environmental organizations.

These are just a few gift ideas that I think your mothers will love. Stay tuned for more & please let me know if you have any favorites you can recommend as well!

  1. Maybe she she would like an organic finger licking facial scrub from BRYCE ORGANICS?

  2. The UnCommonGoods website tends to have a lot of eco-friendly gifts, including jewelry. And there's also Etsy for handmade gifts, many of which are eco-friendly. (I like the necklace you've shown, too!)

  3. Thanks for your input! I'm sure my mom would love the tasty organic facial scrub, but I think I might try to surprise her with something she's not familiar with yet. I'll check out the UnCommonGoods site now!

    xoxo
