Eco-Fan Celebs @ Teens Turning Green "Prom Day"

The Whole Foods Market in NYC’s TriBeCa neighborhood was bustling Monday night with camera crews, eco-designers, reality TV celebrities, actresses, models, writers…you name it. Everyone came out to support the Teens Turning Green - Project Green Prom eco-fashion “Prom Day” event.

The event really kicked off when eco-activist/model/actress, Summer Rayne Oakes, announced the contest’s grand prize winner - Claudia O. Claudia’s animated video clip of how she wanted to make her high school prom greener beat thousands of contests’ entries. As the first place winner, Claudia received a free trip to NYC to participate in Monday night’s “Prom Day” event sponsored by Teens Turning Green & Whole Foods. Claudia flew all the way from Dallas, TX to receive her prizes and enjoy all the fun eco-festivities. In addition to the free trip here to NYC, Claudia received a designer eco-prom dress, shoes, a bevy of natural beauty products (including a 1 year supply of Burt’s Bees products!), and much more. The runners-up weren’t left out either. They received a variety of smaller prizes plus an eco-prom dress too! I had the chance to meet Claudia, and 2nd runner-up, Caroline D. from NYC, and they were both super excited & really appreciative for all their gifts.

In addition to eating tasty organic hors d'oeuvres , and watching the fabulous eco-fashion runway show (with Teens Turning Green member’s modeling), I was treated to green beauty makeovers & spa treatments galore! Burt’s Bees was giving hand massages, John Masters Organic handed out tons of their salon’s hair care products, and Priti Spa was even giving eco-friendly manicures! My night just kept getting better when I got to speak with Bravo’s The Real Housewives of NYC star Jill Zarin & her daughter Allyson (who’s a Teens Turning Green member). They were both incredibly sweet & very enthusiastic about the eco event and how easy it is for everyone to make one little change to become greener. Jill’s friend and reality TV cast mate, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps was also in attendance.

Check out some of the pictures from the event! It was so much fun and everyone looked beautiful.
